Many are worried today about the harm secular morality is reeking on society and rightfully so. However, some of the greatest damage done is within religion itself. There are five different words translated abomination in the Bible. The predominant meaning of the word is, “to stink, to be loathsome, uncleanness.” (Old Testament Word Studies by Wilson, pg. 3) The original words are expressive of great disdain on the part of God yet many of these same practices are now widely accepted within the religious community at large. In this week’s study let’s note what is an abomination to God and see if we can recognize how it has now become acceptable within religion.
