“Betray” is one of the ugliest words of our English language. No one who has ever betrayed his friends, his loved ones or his nation has ever been counted as a hero. It's a dastardly action loaded with shame. How much more shameful is it to betray the Christ and the church for which He suffered and died?
Every day, and for centuries for that matter, Christ and His church have faced betrayal. Whether from those who are determined to impose change in faith, worship and practice or whether it is an individual who turns away from Christ in their daily lives, betrayal is a real and dangerous concept. Whether one realizes it or not, betrayal is the chief cause of difficulties among believers.
This week let’s talk about betrayal from the standpoint of those who would try to change Christ’s church.
