The Promise Of Life

(40 downloads)

Download this episode (15 min)
The fact that we’re able to wake every morning, breath the air, is a true blessing - but it’s not a guarantee. That we take life for granted is an understatement. We all have seen death, yet we don’t acknowledge the reality of death nor appreciate just how fortunate we are.

Eternal life is equally taken for granted. With physical death looming we should be embracing life eternal. Many simply expect eternal life will be granted because “God is good,” some because they have merited it, and others are simply indifferent to it.

How do you feel about it? This is the question I’d like for us to consider this week. Do we truly appreciate the life God has offered us? In our text for this lesson Paul, in describing eternal life, mentions that before the world began God promised eternal life. This statement leads to a few important questions:
What is the promise of eternal life?
On what criteria does the promise hinge?

The statement itself is not meant to be descriptive of either what eternal life is nor how one goes about obtaining it. Therefore, when reading this statement in context we must answer these questions.

The Sinner's Prayer?

(47 downloads)

Download this episode (15 min)
Many may be familiar with the teaching of the “sinner’s prayer.” This teaching suggests that if one in sin wishes to remove their sin (be saved) one must “accept Jesus as their personal Saviour” and say “the sinner’s prayer.” But just where does God in His word (the Bible) say this?

This week let's investigate the truthfulness of this doctrine.

The Deity Of A Carpenters Son

(44 downloads)

Download this episode (15 min)
Questioning the deity of Christ has gone on since before His death on the cross. Historically it seemed as if these questions had remained settled for some time, however, this doctrine reemerged within the 1800’s in our country when the Jehovah’s Witnesses resurrected this doctrine. While during this time some of the greatest changes in religion took place it also was a time when men cultivated many false doctrines. The reemergence of this doctrine began with a Bible study conducted by a young Jehovah’s Witness who taught that Jesus was not deity while in the flesh. While this was not immediately accepted, the doctrine grew as this young man put it forward. After some time it took root in the mainstream of this cult until eventually it was accepted as “Gospel truth” and placed permanently into the creed of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Since that time this doctrine has reared it’s ugly head time and again within various religious groups as well as among many “non-believers.” Though it has taken on many differing forms the bases of the doctrine persists. Even the more conservative denominations have flirted with this doctrine. It is my hope that by studying this doctrine we can understand its fallacy and readily to defend against it.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

(44 downloads)

Download this episode (15 min)
God’s word always shows that one who believes in Him follows Him. Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (Jn 14:15) The apostle John said, “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” (I Jn 2:4) The Christian is represented as one who believes and obeys continually as if living a new life. Paul states, “even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Rom 6:4) The sinner must participate in his initial salvation, and then continue in active and obedient service. He has crucified the “old man” and has become a “servant of righteousness.” (Rom 6:6, 18) This new relationship and state begins with the sinner’s primary obedience, baptism. (Rom 6:3-6) Therefore, true faith in God is one that obeys.

This week let's discuss why we must let our actions speak louder than our words.
