Does Your Preacher Preach The Bible?

(32 downloads)

Download this episode (15 min)
First Century preachers of the gospel were under the obligation to “…speak as the oracles of God,” “prove all things, hold fast that which is good,” (I Peter 4:11; I Thesselonians 5:21) and this was and is because Christianity is an autocracy – Jesus Christ has all authority. (Matthew 28:18, Ephesians 1:22-23) Jesus articulates his authority through his word, the New Testament (II John 9-11; Hebrews 9:15-28) and faithful preaching was always distinct and unique when it remained Bible based and legalistic in nature. These important factors should cause believers to demand such teaching and practice today. Let's spend a few moments this week discussing the vital importance of Bible Based Preach.

The Message Of A Perverted Gospel

(31 downloads)

Download this episode (15 min)
The Bible is filled with grave warnings against tampering with the Word of God. (Deuteronomy 4:2; Proverbs 30:5-6; Revelation 22:18-19) Perhaps the strongest warning given is by Paul in Galatians 1:6-10. In this case some had “perverted” (metastrepho, to turn around, turn about) the gospel of Christ. According to Paul such perversions were to be rejected, even if it taught by angels!

Unfortunately, since the time that the gospel was first preached, it has often been perverted. Even today men continue to teach something different than that proclaimed by the apostles, perverting the gospel of Christ.

In Paul’s day some taught that man must be circumcised and keep the Law of Moses to be saved. (Acts 15:1, 6) Others later stressed a similar doctrine of salvation through meritorious works.

While many may not be aware today is no different. Many present a perverted gospel of Christ by proclaiming a doctrine of salvation not found in the scriptures. In this lesson we’ll consider the “perverted gospel” as it is often presented today, and note its contrast to the gospel that was preached by Jesus and His apostles over 2000 years ago.

I Want To Know What Love IS

(31 downloads)

Love is a distinct part of everyday life. Everyone looks forward to the time when they’ll fall in love and we all know that real love is the cause of the greatest joy while improper love will be cause for the greatest sorrow.

In modern terms love comes in many different forms, but what is it exactly? When described recently by a group of teenagers I was informed that they thought it was caring, kindness, thoughtfulness, etc. It was given by the example of a child’s love for their parents. While many of us would not have a problem with these explanations, when defining this type of love they concluded that it is a “feeling” of love.

Based upon our text (Luke 10:27) “love” is an important element in having a relationship with God. However, if we only love God emotionally, is that enough? Is “loving” God only a warm, cushy feeling we have for Him? If not, we should learn what “love” is. In learning the Biblcal definition of love we will be enabled to know how to love all others and most importantly, know how to truly have and keep a proper relationship with God.
