Which Will You Choose: The Flesh or The Spirit

Romans 8:5-13 is similar to Romans 6:12-19. In both texts, Paul says that living in Christ has real ramifications: sin must not reign in our mortal bodies (6:12), and our mortal bodies are given life through the Spirit. (8:11)
To be in Christ means that our life is not directed by our own fleshly desires but by the Spirit dwelling in us. Paul doesn’t tell us how the Spirit dwells in us in this chapter, but we can infer that the Spirit directs us in a way that’s similar to the way the flesh directs a body (at least in this context). The choice is either living by the word of God or living by the word of self.
For our time this week let’s consider this principle from Romans the 8th chapter.
